Fitness Development Plan

 

This assignment is worth 50 points. A fitness development plan will allow the instructor to organize measurement and evaluation procedures to effectively administer instructional activities to participants. The following is the situation that will be used to develop your development plan: reasonable facilities and equipment that are typically found at a university or fitness center; 16 participants enrolled in the fitness program, a 12 week program that will meet three times a week for 60 minutes.

 

1. You are to select three health related components that will be used in the fitness program. Define each component and provide a paragraph to discuss your rationale for selecting each component.

            Rubric

            10 points: all three components were clearly defined; a clear understanding of the significance of each component to health fitness

            5 points: inadequate definition of component(s); vague understanding of relationship of component to health fitness

            0 points: inaccurate definitions of component(s); rational missing

 

2. You are to select an appropriate measurement and evaluation procedure to determine participant ability in each component. Provide the following: Title of Test; Objective of Test; Brief description of the validity of the test; and procedure in administering test.

            Rubric

            15 points: test properties completely discussed; clear understanding of validity

            13 points: test properties discussed; some evidence of understanding of validity

            10 points: test properties discusses; absence of validity

            5 points: test properties vaguely discussed

            2 points: absence of test properties

            0 points: inappropriate test

           

 

3. Training curriculum: provide a discussion of the 12 week training program. What activities will be provided to participants during the 12 weeks to induce a training effect on each health related component (refer to Praxis sample).

            Rubric

            15 points: clear understanding of fitness training procedures to induce training       effect; principles of progression, overload, and specificity included

            7 points: vague understanding of training principles

            0 points: lack of understanding of appropriate activities to induce training effect

 

 

 

4. Discuss how you will determine the success of the program. Provide a statistical procedure that will be used to analyze whether the program was successful. The statistical procedure should take into consideration pre test and post test comparisons.

            5 points: some understanding of appropriate statistical design

            0 points: application of inappropriate design
